The Foundation - Safety First, Last and Always!
A fundamental priority of FOR (and, we assume, all!)
parents is the safety of our children. Therefore, the following policies
are designed for the security of children participating in the FOR
Children's Educational Program and FOR Family Activities.
1. Parents interested in visiting the Fellowship of
Reason's monthly FORum, who would like to bring their children to the
FOR Children's Educational Program, are encouraged to “audit” both
activities, which are held concurrently to allow this. However, non-member adults without children are
limited to the FORum activities held on the 2nd Floor of the Chalice
House.
2. We are a reasoned and reasonable community and
welcome a multitude of family arrangements! Don't worry your
unique family won't fit in! Our philosophy and practice are that
while we welcome strangers, adults may not be strangers to the kids in
the FOR Children's Educational Program.
Therefore, adults involved in the FOR Children's
Educational Program or attending FOR Family Activities must be FOR
members and/or parents, relatives or legal guardians of attending
children. Other adults first need to meet strict requirements
to participate in the program, including:
 | Personal and criminal background checks |
 | Personal and professional references |
 | Credit check |
 | Resume with complete work history |
 | Transcripts
|
At this time, the only non-member adult involved in the FOR Children's
Educational Program is a paid daycare provider who cares for the kids
between Noon and 3pm. on the 1st Sunday of each month. She has
successfully met the requirements listed above and has earned the trust
of FOR parents over the last few years.
3. The FOR Children's Educational Program will grow
and evolve over the coming years and the scope of adult involvement will
expand accordingly. Our practice for the FOR Children's
Educational Program and FOR Family Activities is to have two adults
present at all times, one male and one female, who are not related to
one another. We recognize and appreciate differences in parenting
styles and believe this promotes reasoned supervision of one's own and
others' children.
4. For all FOR Family Activities, parents/guardians are
responsible for the conduct and safety of their own children.
Parental consent/release forms will be required in the event a parent is
not accompanying the child on a particular outing. In that
situation, non-parent drivers must have proof of insurance, a clean
driving record and a valid driver's license.
For
more information or details on any aspect of the FOR Children's
Educational Program or FOR Family Activities, please contact families@fellowshipofreason.com
or join us the next 1st Sunday of the month between Noon and 3pm.
We look forward to hearing from you and to meeting you
and your kids!
